Blood Borne Virus Screening Service

World Hepatitis Day was observed this week with the “Am I number 12?” campaign. A staggering 500 million people worldwide are living with chronic viral hepatitis B or C. The day is the start of an incremental five year campaign to focus firstly on raising global awareness and then on securing international and national support for improvements in prevention, diagnosis and treatment for people living with chronic viral hepatitis B and C.

Today Quantum Laboratories launches a new Blood Borne Virus (BBV) screening service with the capability to test for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV on either dry blood spot or oral fluid samples. The service will process samples on the day of receipt and provide results for routine tests within 48 hours, thus enabling better diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Managing Director James Lawson said, “We are very pleased to announce the launch of the blood borne virus screening service. The new service complements our core activity of drug and alcohol testing and customers now have a choice in how they perform BBV testing.”
