Quantum Laboratories First Anniversary
This week sees Quantum celebrate the first anniversary of Quantum Laboratories Ltd. The new venture is being hailed as a major success for the company. 12 months ago the laboratory opened its doors for business for the very first time with Phil Willis MP, chair of the influential Select Science Committee. There was much celebration and little in the way of testing being performed.
One year later, how things have changed! To meet the ever growing demand in testing volumes, staff head count in the laboratory has doubled as has the capacity for high throughput screening.
James Lawson, Managing Director said:
“There has been a huge amount of interest from our existing client base to use the new laboratory facility and therefore to use Quantum for all their drug testing needs. A number of customers had been waiting for the laboratory to open and therefore they started using us in the first month or so. I guess the logic behind the investment was that there was little risk for us. Loyal Quantum customers had been asking us about providing an efficient laboratory service for years, so it seemed like the next logical step to build into the business plan.
It’s been an interesting year as other companies in the market are closing their well known specialist testing laboratories, whilst we have just been very busy establishing ourselves as the only viable alternative to that group. I guess it’s always re-assuring when we hear that competing labs are advertising their “new” LC-MS-MS service. We selected our LC-MS-MS system almost two years ago and are therefore far more experienced with this new technology than labs which have been around for 10 years or more.
The past four months have been record months for volume, so I guess we must be providing a first class laboratory service for customers, whilst developing a reputation as being an excellent laboratory.
2008 is going to be another busy year as we expand our laboratory, enabling us to provide the superlative service offering in the market.
